Community Services

Services Rooted in Local Communities

NCCBS described its work as a response to the needs of geographically isolated communities in northern New Mexico. Its historical approach was to strengthen cooperation across communities and help residents take an active role in shaping local solutions.

Children, Youth, and Families

The organization stated that its charitable, educational, and social-service mission particularly focused on children, youth, and their families. Its system-of-care approach incorporated mental health and prevention services.

Prevention and Mentoring

Programs identified on the 2016 homepage included Life Skills, Across Ages mentoring, SYNAR, alcohol environmental strategies, and coalition development through a Drug-Free Communities Grant. The archive does not provide current service hours, enrollment instructions, or program availability.

Culturally Competent Service Delivery

NCCBS emphasized the importance of culturally competent services and training local community members to provide services whenever possible. This reflected its commitment to capacity building and sharing useful knowledge within the region.

Past Community Initiatives

The archived homepage also described previously completed grants involving family strengthening, high school asset building, domestic violence prevention in Rio Arriba County, and high school mentoring.
